MAN REMANDED IN CUSTODY OVER MURDER OF NATHAN GIBSON

A 40-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of Nathan Gibson.

Mr Gibson, who was 25, was found fatally wounded on a towpath near Lake Road in Craigavon last Thursday, January 16.

He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Paul Joseph Whitla, 40, of no fixed abode, was accused of the murder of Mr Gibson.

Whitla did not speak during today’s brief hearing.

A detective told Lisburn Magistrates’ Court he could connect him to the charge.

No bail application was made and Whitla was remanded into custody.

He will appear at Craigavon Magistrates’s Court next month
