MAN TO FACE COURT ON IRA MEMBERSHIP AND GUN CHARGES

Man due to face Belfast Magistrates’ Court today on IRA membership and firearm offences

DETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Terrorist Investigation Unit have charged a man with a number of terrorist offences.

He was arrested on Thursday in a stop and search operation on the Stewartstown Road in West Belfast by a local district police team during an intelligence led probe.

The 52-year-oldĀ is charged with membership of a proscribed organisation, namely the Irish Republican Army.

He is further accused of possessing information likely to be of use to terrorists and possessing a firearm.

He will face Belfast Magistrates’ Court this morning, Saturday, April 13, for a first remand hearing.
