MASKED AND ARMED MEN HUNTED OVER CHIP SHOP ROBBERY

Police scene armed copDETECTIVES in Newtownabbey are appealing for information following an armed robbery.

It happened at a chip shop in the Ballyearl Drive area on the evening of Friday , September 19.

Police say that just after 7.30 pm, three armed and masked males entered the takeaway restaurant and demanded money.

They made off on foot in the direction of the Ballycraigy area.

One of the males is believed to have been armed with a suspected firearm.

He is described as being approximately 5’7″ tall, of slim build and was wearing a black hooded jacket, navy tracksuit bottoms and gloves.

A second male was armed with a baseball bat.

He is described at being about 5′ tall, of chubby build and was wearing a dark grey hooded top and jogging bottoms.

The third male was armed with a snooker cue and wore a navy hooded top and yellow gloves.

Appealing for information, Detective Inspector David Skelly said: “I would ask anyone with any information about this incident to contact us at CID in Newtownabbey Police Station on the non emergency number 101, especially a woman customer who was in the takeaway at the time with a young boy.

“Alternatively, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
