Bullet hand delivered to the home of Alliance councillor Emmet McDonough-Brown

DETECTIVES are investigating a fresh threat to Alliance Party members.

Alliance Belfast Councillor Emmet McDonough-Brown and South Belfast representative Duncan Morrow say were hand delivered a bullet to each of their homes on Friday night.

They said that those behind the threat will not deter them from representing the people of South Belfast.

Mr McDonough-Brown is the son of murdered IPLO boss Jimmy Brown.

Cllr Emmet McDonough-Brown said: “We will not be deterred from representing the people of South Belfast by those who hand delivered these bullets to our homes.

“Elected representatives should be able to work on behalf of their constituents without the fear of violence or intimidation.

“The irony is that this happened during Culture Night, a night when Belfast came together as a city, shared space and gave us a glimpse of what is possible when we work together.

“These people are afraid of what Alliance stands for. Their attempt at intimidation will not succeed.

“My colleagues and I will continue our work to make Belfast a more open and prosperous city for everyone.”

Duncan Morrow said: “Those responsible are mistaken if they believe that this will stop us from continuing our work to deliver a shared future for everyone in our society.

“They offer Belfast nothing and only wish to see a return to the dark days of the past.”
