Graeme McDowell and wife Kristine Stape have a baby girl

CHAMPION golfer Graeme McDowell is on top of the world after he became a father for the first time.

McDowel, 35 and from Portrush, broke his joyous news to his followers on Twitter.

He tweeted: “Thanks so much for all the well wishes.

“Mum and baby girl are happy and healthy. Happiest moment of my life hands down. #daddy #love”

His American wife Kristin Stape underwent a planned Caesarean section on Monday.

British Open and US PGA champion Rory McIlrory also sent his congratulations to McDowell.

He tweeted: “Congrats on the birth of your beautiful baby girl! #DaddyGMac.”
