THE PSNI is appealing for information in a bid to track down those behind sectarian attacks on a church in north Belfast.

Neighbourhood police officer Constable George Kirk said: “Over the past number of weeks damage has been caused to the wall and several windows have been smashed in Jennymount Church, North Queen Street.

“This appears to have been caused by children in the area throwing stones from Gainsborough Drive.

“I am sure you will agree it is totally unacceptable to cause damage to a church and this behaviour needs to stop immediately.

“We would ask all residents to assist Police in looking after the Church.

“If you see anyone in the area throwing stones or causing any damage at all to the Church, to ring a Police on 999 immediately.

“Any resident with information of who may be involved, should report this to Police on 101 or if you prefer, contact your community officer, details below.

“I would ask everyone to do all we can to protect the Church building and assist in bringing anyone who would disrespect the Church to the attention of the Police.”

Constable Kirk can be contacted on 07826 844 433.

Or his colleague Constable Billy Millen can be contacted onĀ 07787 432 067.
