MAN ASSAULTED IN SUSPECTED HAMMER ATTACK IN WEST BELFAST

Police at Woodbourne appeal over brutal assault

DETECTIVES are appealing for information following a vicious assault.

The incident happened in the Corrib Avenue area of Belfast on Saturday, 28th June.

It is reported that at around 7.40pm, a number of males approached a 24 year old man where of them hit him over then over the head by with what is believed to have been either a hammer or a wheel brace.

The man fell to the ground and then got up and ran off in the direction of Naroon Park.

The man suffered head injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance.

His injuries are not currently believed to be life threatening.

Police would ask anyone who witnessed this incident or who has any information to contact detectives at Woodbourne CID on the non-emergency number, 101.
