POLICE PROBE ‘HATE CRIME’ TOWPATH ASSAULT

Woodbourne PSNI stationPOLICE are appealing for information over a possible hate crime assault.

It follows a report of an assault on two Polish men that occurred on the Lagan towpath in the early hours of Saturday 21 June

At approximately 2.20am it was reported that two foreign men aged 36 and 32 were assaulted by a number of men on the towpath, between Bridge Street and Hill Street.

The two foreign men required medical treatment for their injuries which are not thought to be life threatening.

Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact Lisburn Police Station on the non emergency number 101.

One line of enquiry being probed by police is that the attack was racially motivated.
