DETECTIVES in Woodbourne are appealing for information following an aggravated burglary in the Ballaghbeg area of West Belfast today.

Police received a report shortly before 9.00 am this morning that a man had called to a house and said that he was from the waterboard.

He pushed in passed the female occupant, assaulted her and demanded money.

He ransacked some areas of the house. However he made off from the scene empty handed.

He was seen to run off in the direction of the Glen Road.

The woman was treated for her injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening, at the scene.

Detectives would ask anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who has any information to contact them at Woodbourne on the non emergency number 101.
