MAN SHOT IN DISSIDENT REPUBLICAN PARAMILITARY PUNISHMENT ATTACK

Strabane PSNI stationDETECTIVES in Lisburn are appealing for information following a punishment style shooting last night, Tuesday, May 27.

A 23 year old man was in a take away restaurant in the Juniper area of Dunmurry, west Belfast, at around 9.45 pm when another man dragged him out.

This man is described as being of slim build, with a local accent and was wearing a black scarf over his face, a black beanie hat, black jacket and black jeans.

The victim was frog-marched to open ground at the rear of Glasvey Drive where two other men were waiting.

The man was shot in his left knee and ankle.

He was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.

Anyone who witnessed any suspicious behaviour in the Juniper or Glasvey Drive area, or anyone who knows anything about this incident, is asked to contact CID in Lisburn Police Station on the non-emergency number 101.
