MAN ASSAULTED IN EAST BELFAST

Police scenePOLICE in Strandtown are appealing for information following an assault in the Mountpottinger Road area of east Belfast yesterday.

Shortly before mid-night police received a report that a man had been assaulted. He received puncture wounds to his neck.

He was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.

A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

He was later released on bail pending further enquiries.

Police would ask anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who has any information to contact them on the non emergency number 101.
