MAN DUE IN COURT ON AMMO CHARGE

Laganside Court houseA 41-year-old man is due at Belfast Magistrates’ Court this afternoon on possession of ammunition in suspicious circumstances.

He was arrested on Tuesday, 13 May, by detectives working as part of Operation Reiner which is investigating a series of hate crime attacks in east Belfast in recent weeks and months.

As is normal procedure all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

A 43-year-old man a woman aged 41 also arrested yesterday in the Castlereagh area under the Terrorism Act remain in police custody at the serious crime suite in Antrim for questioning.

During yesterday’s raids, police recovered a gun, bullets and a quantity of drugs in east Belfast.
