ACC George Hamilton blamec UDA for Larne attacks

TWO loyalists are due in court on Friday morning charged with affray and possession of an offensive weapon.

It relates to an incident in Larne on Saturday night.

The pair, aged 24 and 30, are due to appear at Ballymena Magistrates Court on Friday morning.

Police believe the incident was linked to disturbances which took place in Larne on Sunday evening,

A crowd of up to 100 members of south east Antrim UDA, many of them masked, gathered in the town and attacked police, residents and homes.

Houses were attacked in Ferris Avenue and Knockdhu Park. One man was seriously injured and a police officer suffered an eye wound.

A senior police officer blamed a faction of the loyalist UDA for the overnight “rampage”.

ACC George Hamilton claimed the SEA UDA was on a “power trip” in the town.
