PSNI seize £900,000 worth of cannabis in south Belfast

DETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Organised Crime Branch have seized £900,000 worth of drugs following planned searches of two properties in the South Belfast area.

Suspected herbal cannabis to the estimated value of £500,000 and other drugs paraphernalia were recovered from a property in the Rugby Avenue area.

At the second property in the Haypark Avenue area, herbal cannabis to the estimated value of £400,000 was also seized along with drugs paraphernalia.

Commenting on the seizures Detective Chief Inspector Catherine Montgomery from Organised Crime Branch said: “This significant seizure further reinforces our determination to remove controlled drugs from the streets of Northern Ireland.

“The potential harm to the public caused by drugs is an issue that the PSNI take seriously.

“We will continue to work in conjunction with partner agencies to ensure the closure of all supply routes and to bring to justice those involved in trafficking drugs at all levels.
