Detectives at Ardmore CID appeal for information over armed robbery bid

DETECTIVES are appealing for information over over an armed robbery bid.

Police say that around 8:15pm on Monday evening it was reported that a man was parked outside premises in the Monaghan Road area of Newry, Co Down when an unknown male entered the vehicle.

The male, who is believed to have had an Eastern European accent is believed to have produced a suspected handgun from his waistband.

As the man made off from the scene, it is believed the driver may have been struck in the face during the incident.

The man involved is described as 5″6 tall, dark hair, light facial hair, aged in his 20’s and it is believed that he received facial injuries as a result of the incident.

Inquiries are continuing.
