DUP MLA William Humphrey condemns gun attack on home in Upper Ardoyne

NORTH Belfast DUP MLA William Humphrey has condemned overnight gunfire into a house in Upper Ardoyne.

A man, woman and two children were indoors when a shot was fired through the downstairs living room window of the house in Glenbryn Gardens at around 1.10am on Thursday, February 27.

William Humphrey said: “This will have been a deeply shocking ordeal for this family and also for their neighbours.

“The PSNI have confirmed that the 34-year-old father sustained a minor cut on his arm due to flying glass resulting from this attack.

“Those who carried out this reckless attack were prepared to put any of the occupants, including two children, at risk of serious injury or death.

“This is a despicable crime which will be condemned by all right-thinking people. Those responsible need to take a hard look at themselves.

“They are not acting in the interests of the local community. Their criminal activities are not wanted in the area.

“This family have lived in the area for many years and there is no indication locally of what motive lay behind this disgraceful attack.

“The police say that they are keeping an open mind. I appeal to anyone who can assist the investigation to pass on whatever information they have to the PSNI, either directly on 0845 6008000 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
