DETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Serious Crime Branch have charged a 33-year-old man on Tuesday night with the murder of prisoner officer David Black.
The suspect is to appear at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday morning for a remand hearing.
He is further accused of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life or property.
Prison officer Black was murdered on November 1, 2012 off the M1 motorway as he headed to his work at Maghaberry Prison.
It is understood the man was arrested in the Lurgan area on Monday and taken to the serious crime suite in Antrim for questioning.
In a statement, the PSNI praised the work of the Gardai in the Republic “for their assistance in this complex investigation which spanned both jurisdictions.”
