POLICE PRAISE PUBLIC AFTER CARJACKED VEHICLE FOUND IN WEST BELFAST

Police crime scene picA HAWK-EYED member of the public has been praised for helping police recover a carjacked vehicle.

A female driver was left badly shaken after her car was hijacked in south Belfast on Sunday morning.

The care worker was leaving theFinaghy area when her Kia Sportage car became stuck in soft ground around 9 am on Sunday morning.

A man approached and helped her to free the car.

However, he then dragged the woman from her car and drove off in the direction of the Lisburn Road.

Detectives issued an appeal to the public to help trace the Sportage car.

And just after 4 pm, a member of the public, who heard the appeal, reported a black Kia Sportage car in the Andersonstown area.

The PSNI say detectives are grateful for the public’s help in finding the car and now is hoping someone knows the identity of the carjacker.
