Police say Paschal ‘Basil’ McAfee was knifed to death in north Belfast flat

DETECTIVES have released a man arrested for questioning over a north Belfast murder.

The 34-year-old man was arrested in south Belfast earlier this week by officers from the PSNI’s Major Investigation Team over the murder of Pascal ‘Basil’ McAfee.

The body of Mr McAfee, 50,  was found by his mother at her home on Henderson Avenue, in the Cavehill Road area around around 1 pm last Friday, December 20.

The victim had been fatally stabbed a number of times.

The suspect was released unconditionally on Thursday afternoon from custody at Musgrave Street PSNI station.

The officer leading the murder investigation, Detective Chief Inspector John McVea has appealed for anyone with information about the murder or his Mr McAfee’s whereabouts to contact his team on 0845 600 8000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
