A 24 year old man has been charged with hijacking, grievous bodily harm with intent and various other motoring offences.

The charges are in relation to a car hijacking incident in the Waterside of Derry on Monday night.

A man in his 70s was taken to hospital for treatment he sustained during the incident which occurred at Bond’s Hill at around 8.30pm.

The accused is due to appear at Derry Magistrates’ Court today.

A 21 year old man also arrested in connection with the incident has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
