MASKED GANG BEAT MAN WITH HAMMERS IN NORTH BELFAST ATTACK

Strabane PSNI stationDETECTIVES in north Belfast are investigating an aggravated burglary and assault.

Shortly after midnight last night, five masked men broke into a house in the Rosapenna Street area.

They ordered a man in his 50s to come down from an upstairs room.

He was then set upon downstairs by the gang who attacked him with hammers.

The victim sustained injuries to his hands and legs. He was treated in hospital but his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
