Police arrest man after woman beaten and sexually assault in north Belfast

A SUSPECT is in custody after a 51-year-old woman was beaten and sexually assaulted by three men in north Belfast.

Police say the victim suffered a suspected broken nose and cheek bone in the attack.

The assault happened as she was walking through an alleyway between the Crumlin Road and Balholm Drive early on Sunday morning.

During follow up inquiries detectives arrested a 49-year-old man.

He is currently in custody and is being questioned about the vicious assault and sex attack.
