Army technical officers at the scenes of bomb alerts in north Belfast and Newtownabbey

THE PSNI are at the scene of two bomb alerts on Thursday morning.

It follows the discovery of two suspicious objects at North Queen Street in north Belfast and on the Shore Road, Newtownabbey.

Police have evacuated a number of homes over the Belfast alert.

North Queen Street community centre has been made available to residents forced out of their homes.

Army technical officers have been called to the alert in Newtownabbey following the discovery of a suspicious object.

Motorists have been advised to avoid the Shore Road at its junction with Mill Road.
