Police at the scene of a bomb alert in south Belfast

THE PSNI has thrown up a security cordon in south Belfast over a bomb alert on Tuesday afternoon.

Army technical officers are at the scene in Donegall Park.

As a result Donegall Park, Grangeville Gardens and Diamond Gardens are closed to traffic.

Police have also evacuated a number of homes as a precaution while ATO examine the suspect object.
