Detectives have closed roads in south Armagh over a suspicious object in Cullyhanna

POLICE have closed a number of roads because of a security alert.

A suspicious object has been discovered in the Cullyhanna area of south Armagh.

As a result, the Bog Road and Lisleitrim Road in the village have been closed.

Army technical officers are at the scene of the object.

Members of the public have been asked to avoid the area and seek an alternative route.

Two weeks ago, the PSNI’s Serious Crime Branch revealed police had received a number of calls about a device being abandoned in the Cullyhanna area.

The public were asked to report any suspicious objects to the police.
