HE just can’t stop scoring so it its little wonder they call him ‘Joe The Goal’.
Joe Gormely bagged a hat trick against Warrenpoint away in Dungannon.
The striker has now scored seven goals in the opening three games of the new Danske Bank Irish Premier League.
And Cliftonville have won their opening three game by the same scoreline – 4-2!
Warrenpoint gave the league holders an early scare when Stephen Hughes gave the new boys a 1-0 lead after seven minutes.
However, on 25 minutes ‘Joe the Goal’ popped up and equalised.
Four minutes after the break Ryan Catney scored on 49 minutes to give the Reds a 2-1 lead.
But Warrenpoint proved they are no pushovers and on 61 minutes McCabe slotted him from the penalty spot for an qualiser.
Then that man Joe Gormley popped up again on 90 and 93 minutes to given Cliftonville all three points – and he kept the match ball for his hat trick.
In north Belfast, Linfield’s woes continue as Crusaders beat the Blues two-nil at Seaview.
Jordan Owens got both goals on 36 and 66 minutes given the Crues their first three points of the season.
Crusaders now leap frog Linfield in the league table with the Blues just one point from their opening three games.
It is angered Blues fans who have used Twitter to ask the question: What is going on at Linfield?
Only manager David Jeffrey can answer that.
