DETECTIVES are investigating a spate of arson attacks along the interface in north Belfast.

Six cars were gutted in arson attacks across the peaceline at the weekend prompting calls for an end to the attacks.

At 3.45 am on Sunday, four vehicles in the Mountview Street area were reported to police to be on fire.

Detectives at Antrim Road CID are linking the incident with another attack on the Hillview Road area at 3.15 am on Saturday.

During this arson attack, two cars were targeted and set ablaze.

In recent weeks there have been a number of similar incidents along the interface area involving local youths.

North Belfast Sinn Féin councillor Danny Lavery said attacks have being perpetrated on on both communities in the area.

He added: “From the Eleventh night and the Twelfth night, there has been six cars burnt out and people throwing petrol bombs.

“I am calling on both sides to stop doing it.”
