Man treated for a broken jaw, head and face in juries in Royal Victoria Hospital

SURGEONS have carried surgery on a man after his jaw was broken and knocked unconscious during a brutal assault in west Belfast.

The 33-year-old vctim was out walking his dog at the rear of a chip shop in the Juniper area of Twinbrook when three men approached him.

One of them punched him to the ground, knocking him unconscous.

After coming round, the man was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast where he received surgery on his jaw, and treatment for other injuries to his face and head.

Police are trying to trace a woman who helped the victim after he regained consciousness.

They have also appealed for anyone who saw the incident, which happened in the Juniper area at around 8.40pm on the evening of Sunday 21 July, to come forward.

The attackers are believed to be in their late teens or early twenties.

One wore blue floral shorts and a white t-shirt, another had cropped blonde hair and was wearing grey bottoms with no top.

Anyone who witnessed the assault or knows who carried it out asked to contact police in west Belfast on 0845 600 8000.
