BELFAST MET STUDENT DIES IN THAILAND

A 21-year-old man from Northern Ireland has died suddenly in Thailand.

Stephen Timothy Clifford, who was a student at Belfast Metropolitan College, died on Sunday in Chiang Mai city in the north of the country.

Mr Clifford, who is from Carryduff, Co Down, is understood to have fallen from a roof.

The Foreign Office in London says officials are providing consular assistance to his family.

A college spokeswoman said: “We would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends – our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.”

The victim, who was educated in Downpatrick, had been holidaying in Thailand since May.
