DETECTIVES are hunting a suspect after three replica guns were found after an armed man was reported in a city centre building.

Police sealed off the area of Donegall Street in Belfast after a man was reported pointing a suspected firearm from a window of a building in the area.

There was a heavy police presence at the scene facing St Anne’s Cathedral.

Officers from a PSNI Armed Response Unit were tasked to the scene following a report to police.

ARU officers entered the building and searched a room where they found three suspected replica firearms from a room.

“An investigation is now underway to identifty and apprehend anyone involved,” a PSNI spokesperson said.

Donegall Street, which was cordoned off during the security alert, has now reopened.
