Police probe sex assault at east Belfast nursing home

DETECTIVES are investigating an alleged sexual assault on an elderly woman in an east Belfast nursing home.

It is alleged the incident happened at the Orchard Housing Nursing Home in CherryvalleyPark last Monday evening.

“The circumstances of the incident are currently under investigation and there are no further details at this time,” a PSNI spokesperson said.

The Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority (RQIA) , which regulates care homes, has also launched an investigation.

The owner of the nursing is co-operating fully with the investigations.
