THE body recovered from a river has been identified as that of missing teenager Kieran McKeon, the PSNI have confirmed.

The 18-year-old, who was from Dublin, was last seen alive at a hotel in Derry/Londonderry on Thursday, March 14, with his friend Alexandra O’Brien.

The body of the “vulnerable” 21-year-old woman was recovered from the River Foyle that evening.

Ms O’Brien had travelled to Derry/Londonderry after checking out of a hospital in Dublin the day before.

Rescue crews had continued searching for Kieran every evening at low tide since he went missing.

Teams from Foyle Search and Rescue, Coleraine Coastguard, Irish Coastguard and civil air patrol, Skywatch were involved in the operation.

Foyle Search and Rescue crews were out on Thursday when police alerted them about the discovery.

“Kieran’s family have thanked the PSNI, Foyle Search and Rescue and Irish Coastguard for all their assistance,” a police spokesperson said.
