A TEENAGER has been remanded in custody charged with slashing a man in the face with a machete.
The attack happened in the Edlingham Street area of north Belfast in the early hours of Sunday.
The 22-year-old victim, who was cut on the face with the weapon, was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening.
Caolan Curley appeared at Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
The 18-year-old was charged with assault, causing grievous bodily harm with intent and having a machete in public
Curley, of Verner Street in the city did not seek bail.
He was remanded to Hydebank Young Offenders Centre in south Belfast to appear again via video-link later this week.
