TWO men arrested over an attempt to murder police officers in Co Antrim have been released.

The suspects, aged 23 and 42, were detained by Serious Crime Branch detectives on Tuesday.

They were taken to the Serious Crime Suite at Antrim police station for questioning.

On Wednesday evening, both were freed from custody.

A bomb exploded at the Duncrue towpath on 9 March close to three police officers who had gone to the area after receiving a phone call.

Detectives believe the bomb was detonated using a mobile phone.

However, on further examination, Army technical officers said only part of the bomb had exploded.
