Cannabis factory smashed by PSNI in Donaghcloney

A man is being questioned following the discovery of a cannabis factory after a tip-off to police.

The 38-year-old man was detained in the William Street area of Donaghcloney on Saturday.

Police called to an address after responding to information received by members of the local community.

And after speaking to the occupant, officers discovered 40 cannabis plants and various other drugs related paraphernalia.

The man has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a class B drug, possession with intent to supply a class B drug and cultivation of cannabis.

He is currently in custody helping police with their inquiries.

Area Commander, Chief Inspector Anthony McNally said following the seizure:” Officers have been working with the local community in the Craigavon area to tackle the issue of drug supply and distribution.

“The discovery of this cannabis factory is an indication of our commitment to remove drugs from circulation.

“This is an example of how our work with communities can help to reduce the threat posed by drugs.

“I would appeal to the community to continue to bring any information relating to drugs to police, by either contacting 0845 600 8000 or alternatively information can be given anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111”
