Police probe blaze in Kilkeel

AN investigation is underway after a three-storey building was gutted in a fire.

It took more than 30 firefighters to bring the blaze under control at Greencastle Street in Kilkeel, Co Down.

The fire broke out shortly before midnight on Thursday.

Brian Irvine from the Fire and Resuce Service said: “This was a fairly serious fire and it took about three hours to extinguish the fire.

“We can’t confirm whether it was accidental or deliberate. There will be further investigations during the day.”

The PSNI will also be looking into the cause of the blaze.
