Plans for new waste incinerator to extract black bin rubbish

PLANS are to be launched later for a new waste management site.

The Becon scheme will be one of the largest single infrastructure investments ever undertaken in Northern Ireland if it gets the green light.

The site near Newtownabbey, Co Antrim will manage the waste from 11 councils and it will extract and re-cycle “black bin” rubbish.

A public consultation will get underway before a formal planning application is made.
