Police probe distraction burglary in Shankill, Belfast

AN elderly woman has been left badly shaken after being targeted in a distraction burglary in Belfast.

A man claiming to be from the Housing Executive called at the woman’s home at Huss Row in the Shankill Road area of Belfast on Saturday morning.

He told her he needed to check the back of her house about putting up new fencing.

It is understood two other men then went into the house and rifled through one of the bedrooms.

A woman caller arrived, and the three escaped through the back garden.

The pensioner was left badly shaken but not injured.

Detectives at Tennent Street have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
