MAN QUIZZED OVER CARRICK OFFICE ARSON ATTACK

Alliance Party office in Carrick torched by loyalist mob

A MAN quizzed over an attack on the Alliance Party office in Carrickfergus has been freed.

The constituency office of East Antrim MLA Stewart Dickson was ransacked and torched during loyalist violence last Wednesday night.

PSNI officers were attacked with masonry, bottles and other missiles in the West Street area of the town leaving a number injured.

The trouble erupted after a vote at Belfast City Hall restricted the number of days when the Union flag will be flown from the building.

A 33-year-old man was arrested in the Carrickfergus area on Sunday on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and burglary.

He has now been released on bail pending further inquiries.
