RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC HIT BY LOYALIST PROTESTS

MOTORISTS have been advised of a number of loyalist protests on Friday evening across Belfast.

Around 100 protestors are out on the Limestone Road/Shore in an escalation of the Union flag row. Crumlin Road is also reportedly blocked.

Drivers are also advised to avoid Shaws Bridge at the House of Sport because of another protest.

The protest comes despite pleas from First Minister Peter Robinson for them to be suspended.

Sinn Fein MLA Gerry Kelly, who has received a death threat, said: “Watch Loyalists moving these protests and more flags to interface areas in a dangerous attempt to make themselves relevant.’’
