BURGLARS STEAL £200 FROM CANCER CHARITY SHOPS IN EAST BELFAST

Thieves target Marie Curie and Action Cancer shops

HEARTLESS thieves targeted two Belfast charity shops and stole almost £200 for stricken cancer sufferers.

A piggy bank was smashed and its contents stolen during a burglary at Action Cancer shop on the Cregagh Road in the east of the city.

Its next door Marie Curie Cancer Care neighbours was looted and a sum of money taken.

Action Cancer said: “The thieves gained access through an upstairs window at the back of the building by cutting the metal grill covering the window and smashing the glass.

“They proceeded to empty an upstairs and downstairs till, smash an Action Cancer piggy bank, take the money from the sweet donation box and cut open the safe.

“Approximately £150 was taken and considerable damage done to the premises.”

A £30 till float was taken from the other store.

Police would ask anyone who may have witnessed the robberies or who has any information to contact them.
