SUSPECT ARRESTED OVER ATTEMPTED KNIFEPOINT ROBBERY

Police probe attempted armed robbery in west Belfast

POLICE have arrested a man over two attempted robberies on the outskirts of north Belfast.

A man armed with a knife entered a shop in the Rathmullan Drive area on Monday at around 5.50pm.

He is said to have threatened staff who refused to hand over money and he left empty-handed.

It is claimed the man approached two young people passing by in the street and demanded their mobile phones.

However, they refused to hand them over and the man then made off on foot.

Police officers later arrested the man a short time later and he was taken into custody for questioning.

Anyone with any information about the incidents is asked to contact PSNI.
