UVF BOMB HOAX: MAN ARRESTED IN NORTH BELFAST

DETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Terrorism Investigation Unit investigating a hijacking and security alert in north Belfast last month have searched a residential property in the Forthriver area of north Belfast this morning, Thursday, April 7.

As a result a 33 year old man has been arrested under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act.

The man is being questioned in the Serious Crime Suite of Musgrave police station in Belfast.

One man has already been charged over the incident and on Wednesday he was refused High Court bail.

Darren Service, of Ballysillan Road in the city, denies charges of preparation of terrorist acts, hijacking and placing an article causing a bomb hoax over the incident on Friday, March 25.

The hoax alert led to the Republic’s Foreign Affairs Minister Simon Coveney being evacuated from the Crumlin Road venue.
