ITEMS SEIZED OVER DISSIDENT’S BREXIT LORRY BOMB PLOT

DETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Terrorism Investigation Unit, investigating the discovery of an explosive device in the Silverwood Industrial Estate on the evening of Tuesday 4th February, conducted a search of a property in the Lurgan area this morning, Tuesday, March 31.

Detective Inspector Kelly said: “A number of items were seized including a vehicle, mobile phones and clothing.

“They have all been taken away for further examination.

“Our priority will always be to protect communities and keep people safe from harm and today’s search demonstrates that we will continue to work with our communities to disrupt the activities of violent dissident republicans.”

Dissident republicans planned to put the bomb laden boat from Belfast to Scotland in a bid to detonated it time for Brexit on January 31 this year.

But the lorry never made it to the ferry and the device was found after a five day search at Silverwood Industrial Estate.
