MAN’S FINGER BITTEN AND BROKEN DURING BRUTAL WEST BELFAST ASSAULT

DETECTIVES are appealing for information following the report of an assault on a man whose finger was broken after it was bitten.

Police say the brutal attack happened in the Glenalina Green area of Ballymurphy, west Belfast, on Monday, February 25.

Detective Sergeant Paddy Conlan said: “We received a report that a man aged in his 20’s was walking in the area at around 11.30 pm on Monday evening when a car pulled up and a number of males got out.

“One of the males approached the man and began to verbally abuse him before physically assaulting him.

“The man sustained cuts and bruising and a broken finger as a result of the attack.”

“Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing and I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the assault or who has any information which could assist us with our investigation to contact detectives at Musgrave on 101 quoting reference number 1577 25/02/19.

“Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
