CENTRA AND SUPERVALU JOIN FORCES TO RAISE FUNDS FOR ACTION CANCER

SuperValu Brand Manager, Stephen Bogle and Centra Brand Manager, Jennifer Morton are joined by a Halloween witch, aka Action Cancer’s Amy Reynolds, to let people know that leading convenience retailers, Centra and SuperValu are planning to raise much needed funds for Action Cancer with their spook-tacular Fundraising Week from October 23 – 31.

HALLOWEEN is almost upon us and as the nights get darker and colder, leading convenience retailers, Centra and SuperValu are planning to heat things up with a spook-tacular Fundraising Week from October 23 – 31, in aid of Action Cancer.

Centra and SuperValu retailers will be doing lots of things in store to help raise much needed funds for Action Cancer, explained Desi Derby, Marketing Director, Musgrave.

“Fundraising Week is the highlight of our charity calendar as it’s when our staff and customers get the chance to have somefang-tastic fun whilst also raising cash for the SuperValu Big Bus and the Centra Health Action Programme which we deliver in partnership with Action Cancer.

“Most Centra and SuperValu stores are holding events, like pumpkin carving and fancy dress competitions, so our customers can expect some ghoulish goings on – all good fun of course!”

Whilst Fundraising Week is all about the fun there is a serious side to it, continued Desi.

“The funds raised by staff and customers will benefit Action Cancer’s Health Action programme for young people, which has been designed to educate kids on healthier lifestyles, including exercise, healthy eating and the dangers of smoking and alcohol.

“The SuperValu Action Cancer Big Bus mobile detection unit, which we have supported since 2006, will also benefit.

“Our support of the Big Bus means that Action Cancer have been able to travel to over 235 locations in last year to carry out both Health Checks and Mammograms in local communities helping to bring life-saving services to hundreds of women.

“I would encourage everyone in Northern Ireland to visit their nearest Centra or SuperValu store and donate to Action Cancer as after all it’s a frightfully good cause!”, concluded Desi.

Any Reynolds from Action Cancer said:  “Thanks to the support from Centra and SuperValu, the partnership with Action Cancer has brought a real and lasting benefit to the community, helping Action Cancer continue in its efforts to save lives and support people affected by cancer.

“We provide a wide range of school and community visits by our health promotion teams; breast screening for thousands of women, support for men’s health programmes as well as a range of counselling and complementary therapies for families including children and individuals affected by cancer.

“Halloween is an exciting time of year and we encourage everyone to get involved in the fun in store activates your local store has planned!”
