NORTHERN Ireland’s Mark Allen pulled off a great performance this afternoon at the ‘Ally Pally’ by beating former world champion Shaun Murphy.

The Antrim lad beat the favourite by six frames to four to reach the quarter final of the 2016 Masters.

He is now into the quarter finals.

Afterward he said: “I can’t believe it. I had ten days off over Christmas and New Year so I wasn’t expecting too much.

“But once I got among the balls I felt good.”

In the tenth frame Allen’s heart was in his mouth when he almost potted the white off the pink which would have given Murphy his much need snooker.

But it rattled the jaws and Mark then went on to pot the pink and clinch the frame for a superb win in 2016.
