‘WET BANDITS’ STRIKE IN NORTH BELFAST

Pcreeper burglary picOLICE have warned the public in north Belfast to be aware of a ‘wet bandit’ gang operating in north Belfast.

Yesterday afternoon, a neighbourhood response team attended the scene of a burglary in Ballysillan were a boiler and other items were stolen from a property.

Sergeant Damien Walsh said: “The property itself was then wrecked and flooded. Neighbouring properties were also damaged.

“After having got some descriptions they did a patrol of the neighbouring area and did great work to arrest 2 males on suspicion of burglary.

“Early this morning, response police that were out patrolling in the New Lodge area arrested a male for burglary after a call from a neighbour who reported suspicious sounds and behaviour from an adjoining property.

“This shows that our response teams are out and about in communities patrolling, and with the help of local people, they can get great results.”
