NI ROADS CLAIM MORE VICTIMS AS TWO WOMEN DIE IN CRASHES

POLICE ACCIDENT 2POLICE are investigating two separate fatal road crashes which has claimed the lives of two women.

The deaths bring to five the number of people killed on our roads this year – compared to nine last year.

The PSNI have confirmed that a woman, aged in her 70’s, has died following a three vehicle road traffic collision on the Springvale Road in Ballyhalbert yesterday afternoon, Tuesday 10 February.

The woman was a passenger in a yellow coloured Peugeot 107 car that was involved in a collision with a grey coloured Volkswagen Golf and a black coloured Toyota Hilux at around 4.30pm.

The drivers of the cars were not reported to be injured.

Inspector James Ellson is appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone who was travelling on the Springvale Road around the time of the collision to contact officers in the Collision Investigation Unit at Steeple Police Station or local police in Newtownards on the non-emergency number 101.

Last night, a woman, aged in her 50’s, died following a two vehicle road traffic collision on the Lisnevenagh Road between Antrim and Ballymena.

The woman was the driver of a Ford car that was involved in a collision with a BMW car shortly before 8.45pm. The male driver of the BMW was taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.

Inspector John Allen is appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone who was travelling on the Lisnevenagh Road around the time of the collision to contact officers in the Collision Investigation Unit or local police in Ballymena on the non-emergency number 101.
