A man in his 50s was killed in a three vehicle crash on the main Derry to Letterkenny road last night.

The man was on a motorbike which was involved in a collision with two cars at Burt at around 10.30pm.

He was pronounced dead a the scene and his body removed to Letterkenny General Hospital.

One of the drivers, a male in his 30s, was taken to Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry with what were described as minor injuries.

The other driver was uninjured.

The victim was the second motor cyclist to be killed in Donegal over the past number of days.

The stretch of road between Burt and Bridgend is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda forensic collision investigators and local diversions are in place.

The road is expected to remain closed until lunchtime.
